The mission of the South Asian American Health Initiative (SAAHI) is to combat stigma, improve health literacy, and ameliorate health inequities within the South Asian community through research, community education, and service.

OUR GOALS

  1. COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Social Media Outreach

To provide learning resources with the common goal of establishing a credible healthcare educational reference for the South Asian American community and provide an interactive tool for the community to utilize.

Educational Seminars

To further shed light on various significant health concerns pertinent to the South Asian American community by featuring professionals in the healthcare field who will share information regarding a specific health topic pertinent to the community, as well as offer the opportunity for participants to ask questions.

2. RESEARCH

To eliminate many of the barriers that prevent South Asian Americans from achieving better health outcomes by shedding light on the different health concerns that arise in the community. The South Asian American community is composed of a unique immigrant population that tends to be understudied and medically underserved. Through research, SAAHI aims to target stigmatized medical issues and ultimately raise awareness on where such medical issues stand within the South Asian American community.
